Bone marrow registry drive:
The Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center will host a bone marrow donor registration event Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as a follow up to a very successful marrow registry drive and blood donation event in mid-October.
The October bone registry drive was spearheaded by Maj. Donald Fontaine, whose nephew is battling a cancer-like illness that will require a bone marrow transplant.
Participants in the marrow registry drive are encouraged to donate blood during the same visit as the majority blood products collected at Fort Bragg are sent directly to Afghanistan to support life-saving medical treatments for service members in combat.
Interested Fort Bragg residents and members of the surrounding communities, can visit the Blood Donor Center on Tuesday and Wednesday or call 396-9925 to RSVP for a donation.
