I want to wish all Fort Bragg area Soldiers, Airmen, Families, civilians and community members a safe and memorable Veterans Day weekend.

Veterans Day is a day we pause to remember every man and woman who has taken up arms to defend our country. We honor every Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman and Coast Guardsman who dedicates themselves to the defense of our Nation. Whether manning a security check point in Afghanistan or organizing local fund-raising efforts to benefit our community, Fort Bragg and the XVIII Airborne Corps remain committed to protecting the freedoms of every citizen in this great nation.

During FY12, we witnessed far too many of our Soldiers, Family members and veterans seriously or fatally injured by preventable accidents. I would like to implore leaders at all levels to focus on accident prevention measures to reduce the number of preventable accidents in FY13.

As we pause to observe Veterans Day, to remember and honor the men and women who have served our United States Armed Forces, I would like to ask each of you to renew your commitment to safety and risk management in your daily activities.
Remember, you have the power to make things safer and I encourage you to honor our Veterans by doing your part to keep everyone safe and alive to celebrate Veterans Day for years to come.

I am honored to recognize our veterans for their service, and to thank each of you for the sacrifices you and your Families make every day. Have a safe and enjoyable Veterans Day.
